It’s been around 20 years since VfB Stuttgart played an unforgettable Champions League season. The Swabians prevailed in the group stage of the premier class in the 2003/04 season and only narrowly failed in the round of 16 against Chelsea FC. Marcelo Bordon was part of the exceptional VfB team back then.

The native Brazilian wore the jersey with the chest ring for over four years – from January 2000 to July 2004. Following his time with the Swabians, the now 48-year-old played for FC Schalke 04 for another six years. He ended his career in July 2011 in the Qatar Stars League with Al-Rayyan SC.
While the former central defender has turned his back on professional football, his sons Felipe and Ricardo Bordon are shaking up the professional business. Both are under contract with Italian club Lazio Rome. While Filipe, who is 16 months older, is a regular in the Italian U20 team, his younger brother was not in the squad a few times after his move in August.
Ricardo Bordon attacks – Will he now become a regular player for Lazio’s U20?
However, the tide seems to be turning at the moment, as the 17-year-old kicker was part of the Lazio squad in the last two league games, the 2-2 draw against Lecce U20 and the defeat at AC Florence U20, playing 90 minutes in each . By the way, the Bordon brothers are following in their father’s footsteps – both are central defenders.
In the Primavera 1, Lazio’s U20 are in fifth place in the table with 26 points after 15 match days. The Romans are five points behind the US Sassuolo U20. A total of 20 teams play in the youth league. The average age is 18.7 years. While a former VfB striker is currently delighting all of Europe, another former Stuttgart striker is in a career low.
