Formula 1 News: Sergio Pérez Exits Red Bull – What This Means for His Career and the Team’s Future

At 34 years old, Sergio Pérez announced, on Wednesday afternoon, the end of his relationship with Red Bull. After exactly four years of being announced as a driver for this team, Red Bull itself turned to social media.

«After four incredible seasons, we reached an agreement to follow different paths. During this period, “Checo” played a decisive role in securing several Grand Prix victories, podiums and two constructors’ titles, contributing to the team’s most successful era.

In turn, the Mexican pilot opened his heart.

«I am very grateful for the last four years and the opportunity to compete on such a good team. (…) It was an honor to race alongside Max Verstappen, sharing our success. A special thank you to all the fans, all over the world, and especially to the Mexicans. Let’s meet again soon», he said.

Pérez’s career began in karts in 1996, at the age of six. Until, in October 2010, he received an opportunity at Sauber, opening the doors of Formula 1 wide open. This was followed by stints at McLaren, Force India and Racing Point, where he stayed until December 2020.

It was precisely that month, still with Racing Point, that Tcheco achieved his first victory in Formula 1, at the Sakhir Grand Prix, in Bahrain.

In the last Formula 1 World Championship, Sergio Pérez finished in 8th place, after 2nd place in 2023.
