Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, meaning his season is over.
Chubb suffered a broken foot early in the second half of a 21-7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday. The star player therefore completed his campaign with 332 yards rushing and four touchdowns in eight games.
The Browns player therefore concluded a second consecutive season on the injured list, after suffering a significant knee injury last year. He injured his left knee in the second week of activities against the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023, underwent rehabilitation and began his campaign on October 20 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Chubb did not speak with the media on Sunday. He left the stadium on crutches and with a protective boot.
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said he believes Chubb will avoid the knife, and is expected to make a full recovery.
Chubb has rushed for 6,843 yards since the Browns selected him in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He ranks third in team history behind the legendary Jim Brown. (12,312) and Leroy Kelly (7274).
Chubb had 1,525 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in 2022. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry in seven seasons in the NFL.
