New away jersey leaked – several details are confusing

The 2024 football year is not even over yet, there is still one match day left in the Bundesliga, so we are already looking cautiously ahead to the coming year. In the men’s area, the World Cup qualifying groups were recently drawn and the possible final locations for the Nations League were determined; for the women, the European Championship groups were drawn.

Christian Wück’s team will initially face Poland, Denmark and Sweden in Switzerland. After the disappointment at the World Cup, the DFB women want to continue the upward trend that they showed at the Olympics. The same applies to the men, who will meet Italy in the quarter-finals of the Nations League after the strong home European Championship. If they go further, the final round will take place in Germany.

2025, as should be clear from this short list at the latest, could be a really big year for the DFB teams – both for the men and for the women. Two titles await, one even in our own country.

DFB women receive new jersey – men should wear it too

Such a special opportunity literally calls for a special jersey. At least that’s what outfitter Adidas seems to have thought. The portal “Footy Headlines” has now leaked the first pictures of the new away jersey.

The first thing that is relevant is the fact that this shirt is probably intended specifically for the DFB women. A closer look at the jersey is irritating, because above the association’s coat of arms there are not two, but four stars. This is how the men would wear it.

The report says that the new away jersey will probably also be worn by the DFB men for at least one game. This new away will then, at least in the short term, displace the purple and pink cult jersey from the home European Championship. As a reminder: no German national team away jersey has ever sold as well as the current one.

DFB team: Adidas changes rhythm for new jersey

This is where it gets irritating again: the men’s European Championship jersey set, some of which is also used by the women, was only presented in spring 2024. If Adidas also pushes the new Away into men’s shoes, the rhythm of releases suddenly changesbecause the DFB team actually only gets new shirts every two years.

Also irritating, but that can be in the eye of the beholder, is the design of the new jersey. Thick lines stand out from the burgundy red background, forming many large D’s. They are intended to be reminiscent of the D in the DFB logo. The embroidered Germany lettering on the neck was also changed to match.

According to the report, the DFB women will not receive a new home jersey. The men, on the other hand, are allowed to be loud “Footy Headlines” We can also look forward to an anniversary jersey next year. Accordingly, Adidas wants to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the DFB in March with a special white shirt.

New, special jerseys are all well and good – in the end, the DFB men and women would certainly rather celebrate with a title than with a shirt. Or with two titles.
