REGGIO EMILIA – Mourning in the world of basketball and throughout the city for the passing of Alessandro Crovetti, known to all as Sandro, historic red and white manager. Crovetti would have turned 66 in a few days. Many messages of condolence, from Pallacanestro Reggiana to the Italian Basketball Federation.
“Reggiana Basketball grievingly clings to the Crovetti family for the passing of Alessandro, known to all as Sandro, historic manager of the red and whites and of the entire Italian basketball movement. Born in Reggio Emilia on 25 December 1958, after becoming a freelance journalist in 1981, Crovetti worked for Pallacanestro Reggiana from 1984 to 1987, as press office and marketing manager.
Subsequently, his career continued in Legabasket, where he remained for 12 years until 1999, and then held the role of manager in several Serie A and A2 clubs such as Napoli, Ferrara, San Severo, Montegranaro and Virtus Bologna. In 2009 he was awarded the Reverberi Prize for his contribution to Italian basketball. Pallacanestro Reggiana expresses its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”
“Sandro Crovetti has left us – they say by the Italian Basketball Federation – journalist, with a great passion and expertise for basketball, general secretary of the Serie A League, and then of many companies, a cutting-edge manager for ideas and initiatives. He would have turned 66 in a few days. Crovetti received the Reverberi Award in 2009 for his contribution to Italian basketball.
The heartfelt condolences of President Petrucci and of Italian basketball go to the Crovetti family, with sincere appreciation for what has been done over time. To remember Crovetti, president Petrucci has ordered that a minute’s silence be observed on all Serie A pitches over the weekend.”
