Saint Dominic. – The Dominican Judo Federation (Fedojudo) will begin this Friday the National Children’s School Judo Championship at the National House of that discipline in the Olympic Center.
The contest has the support of the Ministry of Sports, chaired by engineer Kelvin Cruz, and the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI), headed by Alberto Rodríguez.
For this Thursday, the technical conference and weigh-in will be held, while the competitions will begin on Friday, from 9:00 in the morning, and at 11:00 there will be the opening ceremony.
The information was announced by Mr. Gilberto García, head of Fedojudo, who pointed out that athletes of the U-13 and U-15 ages, both male and female, will take part in the tournament.
“The objective of this National Children’s Judo School Championship is to work on the base and development,” García added.
The sports leader indicated that the two best athletes from each region and that in the end the national champions of both categories will be defined.
García said that the sports meeting will bring together a total of 220 athletes from different educational centers, previously selected, from the North, South, East and Metropolitan Zone regions.
The National Children’s Judo School Championship will bring together the school judo athletes who were winners of the qualifying rounds held in the different regions during the year.
