This Friday the expected 2025 League Cup fixture draw of Argentine First Division football. The event, which will take place after lunch between the leaders of all the clubs, will define the matches of the first phase of the tournament and will reveal the path they will have to follow Belgrano, Instituto Talleres, the Cordoba representatives in the highest category.
The format of the 2025 League Cup is based on information provided by the Argentine Football Association (AFA). It is about a tournament that will divide the 30 participating teams into two zones of 15 teams each.
Each club will play 14 games against the rivals in its zone and an additional interzonal game against the team that is free in the opposite zone. In addition, a special interzonal match will be played, which will not be a classic, defined by draw.
The classics will be a highlight of the tournament, with the particularity that the home field will be reversed compared to the 2024 Liga Tournament. This ensures that each club plays one classic at home and another as a visitor during the year.
At the end of the group stage, the eight best teams from each zone will qualify for the round of 16, which will be played in the stadium of the highest-ranked team. The quarter-finals and semi-finals will also be played in the stadium of the highest placed team, while the grand final will be played on a neutral court.
As for relegations, there will be two: one by average and another by general table, corresponding to the last team in each of those tables. From the First National, two teams will be promoted to the Professional League.
Friday’s draw will reveal the pairings of the 30 teams, including the Córdoba clubs. Belgrano and Talleres will face each other. This Cordoban classic promises to be one of the most exciting duels of the tournament.
In addition, Instituto will once again be paired with Godoy Cruz de Mendoza.

In the first semester the competition will be as follows:
- 2 zones of 15 teams each.

The second semester competition repeats the format of the first stage tournament with the difference that the locations are reversed.
