2024 was full of great events and results for tennis players at the national and international level. On the way is the Davis Cup, the Billie Jean King Cup, the different tournaments that took place in Colombian territory, the national calendar and in recent weeks the ITF J60 of Pereira, Armenia and Anapoima, in addition to the Cosat.
During this year, Colombia was confirmed as a perfect setting to carry out large events, thanks to the work of the Colombian Tennis Federation, added to the support of the Ministry of Sports and a historical ally such as Colsanitas. Added to the above are the brands and private companies that believe in tennis and the work that has been carried out.
It has been a year of evolution and development for tennis in the national territory. Support for athletes and the organization of events in search of exalting the importance of women in tennis. Among these spaces, the holding of the First National Women’s Tennis Workshop stands out.
2025 will surely be full of challenges for Colombia with great events that will confirm the country as a perfect headquarters.
The start of international tennis activity will begin very quickly in Colombia and three events immediately attract attention and will have the cities of Cali, Barranquilla and Ibagué as venues in order.
On January 20, the first event of the Cosat South American Tour for 14 and 16 year olds will take place at the Farallones Club facilities, which will bring together the best youth players in the region. In this tournament, a great performance is expected from the national players, who in 2024 represented the tricolor flag in a great way.
This same calendar indicates that the tour will be moving to Guayaquil, Ecuador, later to Lima, Peru and then Asunción in Paraguay. Caxias do Sul and Sao Paulo would also welcome the Cosat Tour.
In parallel, Barranquilla once again welcomes a tennis event, just as it did during the ending year. Between January 20 and 25, one of the most important junior events that are part of the calendar will take place at the District Racket Park.
The J300 brings together the best tennis players in this category and is one of the most important events of the International Tennis Federation, ITF.
Last but not least, of these three major events, the Davis Cup will close the month of January with the play-offs of World Group I. A couple of weeks ago the International Tennis Federation confirmed to the Colombian Tennis Federation that the The city of Ibagué and its Racquet Complex will host the event.
On this occasion, Colombia will face Barbados and the captain of the Colombia Colsanitas Team, Alejandro Falla, announced those summoned for this event. Nicolás Mejía, Adriá Soriano, Nicolás Barrientos, Cristian Rodríguez and Miguel Tobón will be defending the colors of Colombia.
In this tennis agenda, we must have the Billie Jean King Cup on the radar in the month of April, at which time Team Colombia, captained by Alejandro González, will once again return to the court. Surely information for this appointment will be released little by little.
It must also be said that from the same month of January and between February and March, Grade 1, 2 and 3 tournaments will be held in different regions of Colombia. It must be clarified that some of these events may still have changes, however, they will be updated on the Federation’s website.
There is no doubt that 2025 will be another year full of tennis activity and Colombia will once again be the epicenter.
