Who would have said that a few years ago. Former national team coach Pavel Vrba became the coach of the second league team Lišná. And they are already hunting for reinforcements. Even in Sparta, where he used to work.
With Pilsen, he won the league three times, leading it several times in the Champions League. He also celebrated championship titles in Slovakia and Bulgaria. Now the former coach of the national team, Pavel Vrba, has embarked on a completely different task. He is supposed to lead the second division Líšen to the elite. A sixty-one-year-old native of Přerov he has already started picking new reinforcements. And he probably has a very big budget, according to information from iSport, he even approached Sparta football players.
The willow beckons former wards
Money probably won’t be a problem. After all, Vrba himself, with his experience and achievements, is not from a cheap region. His arrival at the club from the suburbs of Brno is related to the recent arrival of a new owner, which is Igor Fait, according to Forbes, the 88th richest Czech Republic. He is said to be willing to pour one billion crowns into the Lišeň complex.
Otherwise, it would be difficult for Vrba to choose mostly first-class players. It can be said that he actually has an almost unlimited budget. According to Sport sources and the iSport website, he pointed to former charges from Pilsen Radim Řezník (currently Domažlice) and Milan Petržela (Slovácko). The arrival of Jakub Pešek would then be a complete sensationwho starts for Sparta and has nine national team starts. Vrba was also supposed to contact him.
The offer intrigued him
Vrba has achieved great success in the past. He led the Czech national team to Euro 2016 and won the Coach of the Year award eight times in the FAČR poll. His last stop was Zlín last fall. “I was interested in the club’s offer, who has a clear vision of promotion to the first league. It’s a new challenge for me. I believe that Líšeň should advance to the top league, the coaches here have done a great deal of work, which I want to build on,” said Vrba, who in the past also led Sparta or Ostrava, for example, to ČTK.
Speaking of which, he has a very difficult task ahead of him. After the autumn part of the season, Líšeň is in 9th place with a loss of seven points to the third Vyškov. “I see the arrival of Pavel Vrba as an opportunity for the entire club. For me personally, he is a coaching role model, who brings experience from big football to Líšně. I look forward to our cooperation and believe that together we will fight for promotion to the first league,” declared the current coach Milan Valachovič, who moved into the role of manager.
