A new milestone reached. This Thursday, the French Archery Federation (FFTA) announced via a press release that it had reached a new record number of licensees. With 77,300 licenses registered this Thursday, November 14, the 2024-2025 season exceeds that of 2017 which saw 77,225 archers join French clubs. Figures which prove the French enthusiasm for this sport. It must be said that the silver medal won by the French team archers and the bronze won individually by Lisa Barbelin during the last Olympic Games in Paris, had the merit of boosting the interest of the French.
« The Olympic and Paralympic Games were a success, both in the reception and in the organization, and in the performance of our athletes. The emotions transmitted through the images shared throughout France and around the world have highlighted the values of our discipline »welcomed Jean-Michel Cléroy, president of the FFTA, before adding: « From the start of the school year in September, an influx of licensees was noted as part of federal projects, open days, discovery days within our clubs. »
French archery recorded an increase of almost 15%, or 9,000 more licenses compared to the previous year. Also, out of all the licensees, the Federation currently has more than 28,000 women, again a new record. “After two years of restrictive health context and a difficult economic period for everyone, our clubs have demonstrated their dynamism”rejoiced Jean-Michel Cléroy.
