Your journey has been remarkable. From becoming the first 5th Dan master in your province fourteen years ago to inspiring countless athletes, your influence on Sardinian judo is undeniable. What drives you to achieve these milestones?
Calvisi: “Judo has been a constant in my life for over fifty years. It’s more than just a sport; it’s a ideology, a way of life. I’m driven by a desire to share this discipline, to help others discover its physical, mental, and spiritual benefits, and to contribute to its growth in Sardinia. Seeing my students thrive, whether it’s children learning discipline or competitive judokas achieving their dreams, that’s the ultimate reward.”
You’ve organized over sixty Judo events in Olbia, transforming the city into a Judo hub. What impact do these events have on the local community and the sport’s growth?
Calvisi: “These events are vital! They showcase the talent of our local judokas,attract national and international recognition for Olbia,and foster a sense of community. It’s inspiring to see judo enthusiasts, young and old, gather together to celebrate this fantastic sport.”
Beyond your athletic accomplishments, you’re also a musician and a well-known radio personality. How do these passions intersect with your Judo life?
Calvisi: “They all feed into each other. Music and radio allow me to connect with people, share my thoughts and experiences, and promote a sense of unity. It’s crucial to me to use every platform I have to spread the message of dedication, discipline, and respect that judo embodies. It’s all about finding harmony in different aspects of life.”
