Keeping it Lively: A Holiday Badminton Chat with Mehmet Demir

The holidays are a time for family, friends, adn…badminton? Absolutely! To learn more about this unorthodox holiday activity, we ⁢sat down⁣ with ⁢Mehmet Demir,⁢ former Turkish national badminton player and current coach at the Köpenick Badminton Club.

Moderator: Welcome, Mehmet! Thanks for joining us today.

Mehmet: It’s ⁣a pleasure to be hear. And, you know, badminton might not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking ⁤about the holidays, but it’s actually a fantastic way to stay active and have fun with friends and family during the season. ⁢

Moderator: I can definitely see that. Looking at ‌the ⁣schedule put out by the Köpenick Badminton Club [ [[1]]], there’s ⁢a lot going on over the holidays! What are some of the highlights for you?

Mehmet: There are⁢ tons of opportunities for everyone during the ‌break. I love that thay’re offering specific open play sessions for children and youth. Getting kids involved in sports at a young age is ‍incredibly ⁣critically important.

But, I do have to say, I’m a little surprised there aren’t any structured training sessions for adults or youth between December 23rd and January 5th. Is there a reason for that?

Moderator: that’s a good point. We’ve received some feedback from community⁢ members inquiring about that as well.

Mehmet: I understand it’s the⁢ holidays, people want to‌ spend time with family, but many ‌players, myself included,‌ still look ‍forward to structured training even during this period. Maybe next year they can explore offering some scaled-back training sessions for those who are still⁢ dedicated to honing their skills. It all depends on demand and available coaching staff, of ⁤course.

Moderator: That’s a valid point. Let’s talk about the open play sessions.

Do you‌ think these are‍ a good way for people to connect, especially during a sometimes isolating time like ⁣the⁢ holidays?

Mehmet : Absolutely.⁤ Badminton is inherently a⁢ social sport, and ⁣these sessions ⁢provide ⁣a fantastic space for people to connect, have fun,and maybe even make some new‌ friends.

I’ve seen firsthand how ⁤a shared love⁢ of badminton can bring people together,

Moderator: I couldn’t⁣ agree more. What advice would you give to someone who’s new to badminton and thinking about trying it out over the⁣ holidays?

Mehmet: Just come as⁣ you‍ are – all skill levels are welcome! Don’t⁣ be intimidated; everyone was a beginner ‌once.

And remember, the most important thing is to have fun and enjoy the experience.

Moderator: Great‍ advice. Thanks for sharing your insights, Mehmet.

What do you ‍think? Are holiday badminton sessions a good idea? Do you agree with Mehmet’s suggestions for next year’s schedule? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
