A Day of Precision: Laudun Hosts Regional Archery Championship Qualifier
The gymnasium Léo-Agrange in Laudun buzzed with activity on December 1st as the Compagnie du Camp de César archery club hosted its annual indoor target archery competition. Sixty-five archers, representing twelve clubs from across the region, including the Gard, vaucluse, adn Bouches-du-Rhône departments, gathered to test thier skills and vie for a coveted spot in the national championships.
The competition, held at a distance of 18 meters, saw archers grouped in sets of twelve. Each archer meticulously released three volleys of twenty arrows, carefully retrieving them after each volley to meticulously calculate their scores. This format, common in competitive archery, emphasizes both accuracy and consistency.
Standout performances illuminated the day. In the classic bow category, Aurore Schmitt from Pont-saint-Esprit impressed in the U15 division, achieving an remarkable 566 points. Anne Sandri, also from pont-Saint-Esprit, dominated the senior 2 category with a score of 550 points. The compound bow division saw Yan Pazzi from Laudun-l’Ardoise secure the top spot in the U18-U21 category with 555 points, while angel Martin from Alès claimed victory in the senior 2 category with a score of 560 points.
alain Blache, the club president, expressed his satisfaction with the event’s success, noting the high participation rate in the afternoon session and the exemplary conduct of his club members. Anne Sandri: Thank you! it was a truly exhilarating experience. The atmosphere was electric, and I could feel the energy from the other archers. This type of format, where you shoot three volleys of twenty arrows, really tests your focus and consistency, which are crucial aspects of archery.

Anne Sandri: I believe archery is experiencing a real renaissance. It’s a sport that is both challenging and rewarding, requiring immense physical and mental strength. The sense of community within archery clubs is also a huge draw. We are like a family, supporting and encouraging each other on this journey.
Moderator: I noticed that your club in Pont-Saint-Esprit had several archers competing today, and many were young athletes in the U15 category. What advice would you give to young archers who are just starting?
Anne Sandri: My advice to young archers is simple – be patient, persistent, and enjoy the process.Archery is a journey, not a destination. There will be ups and downs,but the feeling of hitting that bullseye after hours of practice is truly worth it.
