Millavois Badminton Players Shine at Monastère Tournament
The SOM Badminton club had a strong showing at the recent tournament held in Monastère on December 14th and 15th. Several players participated in both singles and doubles competitions, achieving notable results.
In the men’s singles,Jean-Baptiste Conan emerged victorious,claiming the top spot in Series 1 after a hard-fought final against a competitor from Saint-Affrique. Unfortunately, Adrien Dupont, Pablo Jimenez, and Fabrice Raynal were unable to advance past the pool stage in their respective series.
The doubles competition saw mixed fortunes for the Millavois players.Louna Boyer and Isabelle Liess secured a respectable fourth-place finish in Series 4 of the women’s doubles. On the men’s side, Noël Chayrigues and Florent Guibert, as well as Axel Chabert and Fabrice Raynal, were unable to progress beyond the pool stage in Series 5 and Series 3 respectively. Jean-Baptiste Conan and pablo Jimenez, however, made it to the semi-finals in Series 2, demonstrating their strong partnership.
The SOM Badminton team will now take a short break for the holidays, with an internal tournament scheduled for December 18th. They will be back in action in the new year, eager to build on their recent successes.

Olivier: Jean-Baptiste’s win is a testament to his dedication and hard work. He’s been training consistently and steadily improving. His tenacity in the final against the competitor from Saint-Affrique was truly commendable. It’s fantastic to see his efforts paying off.

Pablo Jimenez, and Fabrice Raynal, faced challenges in the pool stages. What advice would you offer them as they move forward?
olivier: Every tournament is a learning experience,win or lose. For players who didn’t advance this time, the key is to analyze their performance. What worked well? What areas need improvement? Focus on strengthening those weaknesses and building on strengths. Remember, consistency and perseverance are crucial in badminton.

Louna Boyer and Isabelle Liess secured a respectable fourth-place finish in the Women’s Doubles Series 4. What makes a triumphant doubles team?
Olivier: Doubles badminton demands strong communication and trust between players. Understanding each other’s playing styles and anticipating each other’s moves is crucial. Louna and Isabelle clearly demonstrate good teamwork, which is reflected in their achievement.
Moderator: And Jean-Baptiste Conan and Pablo Jimenez reached the
semi-finals in Men’s Doubles Series 2.
