Palma Unveils New Sports Facilities at Son Moix
Palma’s Municipal Sports Palace of son Moix has received a notable upgrade with the addition of two state-of-the-art 3×3 basketball courts and a dedicated volleyball track. The inauguration ceremony saw members of the Navy Blue basketball team and the Palma voley Club showcase the new spaces, engaging in amiable matches with local authorities and attendees. The event was attended by key figures in Palma’s sports community, including First Deputy Mayor and Sports Councillor Javier Bonet, General director of Sports David Salom, IME Manager Miquel Àngel Bennàsar, and Dolors Besné, President of the Balearic Islands Volleyball Federation.
Investing in World-Class Sports infrastructure
This investment in new sports facilities is part of a larger commitment by the Palma City Council to enhance the city’s sporting infrastructure. This week, the Government Board approved a considerable €6.8 million contract for the maintenance of IME sports facilities, including Son Moix. Miguel: Absolutely. 3×3 is fast-paced, exciting, and doesn’t require a full court, making it more accessible for everyone. Having these quality courts right here in Palma could inspire a whole new generation of players. We might even see some future Olympians emerge from these very courts!
