Born in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on January 18, 1997, Emil Audero has been on the radar of the Indonesian national football team for several years. His potential was recognized as early as 2019 during Mochamad IriawanS tenure as PSSI chairman, but efforts to secure his commitment proved unsuccessful.
Despite this, PSSI officials haven’t given up hope. As Arya recently remarked, “We continue to explore possibilities, although sometimes the pursuit feels daunting.”
Audero’s remarkable track record includes representing Italy at the youth level from 2012 to 2017. While he has yet to receive a call-up to the senior Italian national team, his experience and talent make him a valuable asset that Indonesia would be fortunate to have.
Can Indonesia’s National Team Nab This Italian Gem?
Welcome back to “Field of dreams,” everyone! Today we’re diving deep into the world of international football with a very special guest –former Indonesian national team captain, Bambang Pamungkas. We’ll be discussing the tantalizing prospect of Emil audero, a talented Italian-born goalkeeper of Indonesian descent, potentially joining the garuda’s ranks.
Bambang, thanks for joining us today! Emil Audero’s name has been circulating in Indonesian football circles for a while now. What are your initial thoughts on his potential impact on the national team?
bambang: It’s certainly exciting news. We’ve been looking for a truly top-class goalkeeper for a while now, and audero’s pedigree, having represented Italy at the youth level, speaks volumes. His experience would be invaluable, especially for our younger players.
absolutely, the experience he brings from playing in a competitive environment like Italy’s youth system would be hugely beneficial. We know PSSI has been pursuing him for years, but the process seems to be proving challenging. Do you think securing his commitment will be an uphill battle?
Bambang: It’s not going to be easy. Players with dual nationality often have to weigh a lot of factors, including cultural ties, career opportunities, and personal aspirations. However, I beleive Indonesia’s football scene is growing in stature, and if we can showcase our ambition and commitment to his development, it could sway his decision.
That’s a crucial point, Bambang. We need to demonstrate that we offer him not just a jersey but a platform to shine and grow as a player. The fact that he hasn’t yet received a call-up to the italian senior team might work in our favor. Do you see this as a possible turning point?
Bambang:Potentially. He’ll be looking for opportunities to prove himself at the highest level, and with increased competition for places in the Italian squad, playing for Indonesia might present a more immediate pathway to international glory.
You raise another vital point. While his Italian youth experience speaks volumes, there’s also the question of how he would adapt to the Indonesian style of play and the unique challenges of competing in Southeast Asia.
Bambang: That’s a valid concern. while he might need some time to adjust, I believe his technical skills and tactical awareness would make the transition smoother.
Furthermore, the passion and support of Indonesian fans are unmatched. playing in front of a packed Gelora Bung Karno stadium could be an immense motivational factor.
true, Bambang, true! Hopefully PSSI can make a compelling case and we see this talented individual donning the Garuda jersey soon. It’s certainly a situation worth keeping a close eye on.
Bambang: I wholly agree.
