Amorebieta aims to Conquer Andorra’s Fortress and End 2024 on a High
Amorebieta enters their final match of 2024 steadfast to secure a victory that will propel them into the Christmas break with a sense of accomplishment. Despite recent improvements, the Blues still find themselves trailing the playoff zone. Their upcoming challenge, however, is formidable: facing an undefeated Andorra side at their home ground, the ‘Estadi Nacional’, this Sunday.
Natxo González, Amorebieta’s coach, recognizes the magnitude of the task ahead. “We’re facing a very strong opponent, and this should motivate us,” he stated. “Andorra remains one of the few teams yet to lose at home, making a victory there even more significant.”
González acknowledges Andorra’s quality but emphasizes that they are not invincible. “They are a high-caliber team, but they can be beaten, as evidenced by their recent loss to Celta Fortuna,” he pointed out. “We are confident in our ability to compete and capitalize on any opportunities that arise.”
For Amorebieta, the key to success lies in improving their concentration. Costly errors and lapses in focus have prevented them from securing crucial points. “We are aware that this will be a challenging match,” González admitted. ”However, it presents another opportunity for us to secure an away victory. While our home form has been solid,we need to translate that success to our performances on the road. We’re getting closer, and hopefully, this Sunday will be the day.”
To break Andorra’s remarkable home record, González plans to prioritize ball possession. “We need to control the ball as much as possible,” he explained. “Otherwise, we risk being completely dominated.”
The Amorebieta coach also highlighted the importance of adapting their game plan. “We’ll be implementing the same core ideas, but with some adjustments,” he revealed. “Last week’s muddy conditions in Urritxe prevented us from fully executing our strategy, so we’ll be looking to implement those elements this week.”
One notable absence for Amorebieta will be Pablo Hervías, who received his fifth yellow card in the derby against Barakaldo and will serve a suspension.
González praised Andorra’s attacking prowess, describing them as a team with remarkable ball-handling skills and a patient, varied offensive approach. ”They are a prolific scoring team,” he noted. “Defensively, they will pose a significant challenge, as they aim to maintain possession for extended periods. They also possess players with the quality to convert those opportunities into goals.”
With both teams eager to end the year on a high note, Sunday’s clash promises to be a thrilling encounter.
