Organized by the beninese National Olympic and Sports Committee (Cnos-Ben), the event aimed to highlight the importance of children’s rights and promote thier well-being through sports and recreational activities.
This year’s festivity, postponed from its official date of November 20th, brought together children from various backgrounds, including those from Terres Rouges and the International Street Citizens (Foyer Sonangnon). He noted the extraordinary potential he witnessed among the young participants, highlighting the need for increased infrastructure and support to nurture future generations of athletes.Beyond sports, the children were also treated to a Break Dance workshop, showcasing the dynamic and expressive art form that originated in 1970s New york.
The celebration also incorporated educational elements, focusing on Olympic values and painting, further enriching the children’s experience.
Fernando Hessou, Secretary General of cnos-Ben, underscored the meaning of childhood as the foundation of human advancement. He stressed the collective duty to champion children’s rights and create a nurturing environment where thay can thrive.
The event received enthusiastic support from key partners, including the Sillonage des Terres Rouges team and the Citizens of International Streets association. Representatives from both organizations expressed their gratitude to cnos-Ben for their commitment to promoting children’s well-being and providing opportunities for vulnerable youth.
They highlighted the transformative power of sports and play in fostering emotional resilience, intellectual development, and a sense of belonging among children facing challenging circumstances.
