Daz Marshall: I think it’s brilliant, frankly. Football is about so much more than just scoring goals. This gesture from Kimmich highlights the importance of camaraderie and support within a team. Injuries are brutal, both physically and mentally, and it means a lot to know your teammates have your back.
Moderator: Henrichs mentioned feeling devastated when he realized the severity of his injury. How do you think players should handle these challenging moments?
Daz Marshall: It’s never easy. you pour your heart and soul into the game,so encountering a setback like this can be incredibly tough. It’s vital to have a good support system – teammates, coaches, family, friends – who can offer encouragement and understanding. Remember, you’re not alone in this.
Moderator: Kimmich’s actions show that sometimes the smallest gestures can have a profound impact. Do you have any personal experiences were a teammate’s support helped you through a difficult time?
Daz Marshall: Absolutely. Early in my career, I suffered a serious knee injury that sidelined me for months. It was a dark time, but my captain at the time, Barry Ferguson, constantly checked in on me. He invited me to watch games from the sidelines, kept me involved, and reminded me that I was still part of the team. That support was essential to my recovery.
