J&K prepares for National Ball Badminton Championship
The Jammu & Kashmir Ball Badminton Association is gearing up for the 69th Junior National Ball Badminton Championship,slated to be held in Nagpur,Maharashtra from January 17 to 21,2024-25.In anticipation of this prestigious event, the association recently conducted selection trials at the Gindun Sports Stadium in Srinagar’s Raj Bagh.
The trials, which took place on December 24th, were conducted under the watchful eyes of the J&K Sports Council. A dedicated committee, comprising Maqsood Ahmad Khan (Deputy Manager, SKISC) and Shabir Yoga (Incharge, Sports Stadium Budgam), oversaw the proceedings. They were joined by prominent members of the J&K ball Badminton Association, including Arsheena Khan (General secretary), Mohsin Farooq (Joint Secretary), and Tabish Mustafa Bhat (Member).A pool of talented young athletes vied for a spot on the national team.From a pool of 20 aspiring players in each category, 16 boys and 16 girls were ultimately chosen to represent Jammu & Kashmir.These selected athletes will now embark on an intensive residential coaching camp, scheduled to run from December 24th, 2023, to January 13th, 2024. A final screening test will be conducted on January 13th to finalize the roster for the national championship.
