Ricardo Rodriguez: It’s a pleasure to be here. Thanks for having me.
The Hidalgo Amateur Boxing Association just wrapped up another accomplished Golden Gloves tournament. The level of talent on display, especially in those younger divisions, was truly remarkable. What are yoru thoughts on the future of boxing in Hidalgo?
RR: I’m incredibly proud of what I saw at the Golden Gloves. The passion, the dedication, the raw talent these kids possess is inspiring. Hidalgo has always been a hotbed for boxing, and I truly believe this new generation has the potential to take it to another level.
You’ve seen a lot of young fighters come through the ranks. What sets this current crop apart?
RR: there’s a hunger in their eyes that I haven’t always seen before. They’re driven, disciplined, and willing to put in the hard work. Plus, they’re not afraid to experiment and push the boundaries of the sport. They’re learning from the greats who came before them, but they’re also forging their own paths.
Looking at the results, we see some familiar names in the Elite category, guys like Jesús Cruz and Luis Reyes, who are already making waves on the national scene. But for me, it’s the younger divisions that are most exciting. Names like Donovan valencia,Amurabi Betancourt,Santiago Terrazas – these are the future stars. These are the kids who will be carrying the torch for Hidalgo boxing in the coming years.
I agree. It’s fantastic to see the young talent coming through. And with events like the first Force National Championship and the Conade National Games on the horizon, these kids have some serious opportunities to make their mark. what advice would you give to these young boxers, Coach, as they embark on their journey towards the national stage and beyond?
RR: It’s simple: Believe in yourself.Trust in your training. Stay focused on your goals, and never lose that hunger.Boxing is a tough sport, filled with challenges and setbacks. But the rewards are immense for those who are willing to put in the work.
And remember, it’s not just about winning. It’s about growth, about becoming the best version of yourself, inside and outside the ring.
