“absolutely. While experienced players are crucial, I see immense value in nurturing young talent. This team is primarily made up of collage graduates making their European debut. My role is to create an environment where thay can learn, grow, and flourish. They have raw talent, and my job is to help them refine it and reach their full potential.”

“Indeed. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our young players stepping up and making an impact. They are hungry to prove themselves, and their enthusiasm is infectious. The top 4 Cup is a great platform for them to showcase their abilities on a wider stage.”

(chuckles) “Gordon is a fantastic coach, and I learned a great deal from him during my time playing under him here in Frankfurt. He’s a great tactician and motivator. His return adds another layer of excitement to what is already going to be a tough game. I have immense respect for him and what he’s achieved, both with the Skyliners and the German national team.”
on that note, the success of the German national team under Herbert has undoubtedly sparked national interest in basketball. How do you think this will impact the Skyliners and the Bundesliga as a whole?
“it’s a fantastic development for German basketball. Success at the national level always generates excitement and inspires young players. It creates a wider interest in the sport, drawing more fans to the Bundesliga.
That enthusiasm translates into a more vibrant atmosphere at games, which benefits everyone involved.”
You mentioned earlier about creating a fun and supportive environment for your players. How important is that element to your coaching style?
“It’s paramount. In a competitive environment like professional basketball, it’s easy for pressure to mount. Maintaining a positive and enjoyable atmosphere, even during setbacks, is essential.
I want my players to enjoy the process,to feel supported,and to learn from their mistakes.Ultimately, that’s how individuals and teams truly grow and thrive.”

“My goal is to establish the Skyliners as a consistent force in the Bundesliga.We want to be a team that consistently competes for championships and attracts top talent. We’re focused on building a sustainable program that develops young players and instills a winning mentality. This is just the beginning of our journey, and I’m excited to see where we can take this team in the years to come
