Badminton Prodigy Dominates Junior State Ranking Tournament
The 3rd Junior State Ranking Badminton Tournament concluded in Keyi Panyor district on December 29th, 2024, witnessing the rise of a young badminton star. Mom Niting of Longding emerged as the tournament’s standout performer, securing a remarkable hat-trick of titles.
Niting showcased his exceptional skills by clinching victory in both the boys’ U-17 and U-19 singles categories. He faced off against fellow Longding player Pangdun Pansa in both finals, demonstrating his dominance in the age group.
The tournament saw fierce competition across various categories. In the boys’ U-17 singles, Biri Karakoram of Keyi Panyor and Marmin Uli of Lower Siang secured the third position, while vikash Limbu of West Siang and Kangun Jamoh of Siang shared the third spot in the boys’ U-19 singles.
Niting’s prowess extended to doubles play as well. Partnering with Pansa, he triumphed in the boys’ U-19 doubles, defeating the Lower Siang duo of Chipe Riram and Marmin Uli. The third position in this category was shared by Anil Biswakarma and Nabam Komchi of the RGUSCB and Gotum Sonar-Moses Sangbia of east Kameng.
The girls’ U-19 singles category saw Laa Anu of Kamle emerge victorious, overcoming Jamba Waii of East Kameng in a thrilling final. Gyamar Aniya of Keyi Panyor and Amijo Tangu of East Siang shared the third position.
In the boys’ U-17 doubles, Chipe Riram and Marmin Uli secured the title, defeating Chomsam Kungkho and Joram Dolo of Kenyi Panyor. The third position was shared by Biri Karakoram-Byabang D Dui of Keyi Panyor and Anil biswakarma and Robin Sapam of the RGUSCB.
MLA Laisam Simai graced the closing ceremony, presenting awards to the deserving winners and acknowledging their exceptional talent. The tournament served as a platform for young badminton players to showcase their skills and compete at a high level, highlighting the growing popularity and competitiveness of the sport in the region.

What are your thoughts on Niting’s dominance?
Sandeep: It’s unbelievable to see such a young player excel at this level. Winning three titles in a single tournament shows exceptional skill,focus,and dedication. He’s clearly a force to be reckoned with.
Moderator: Absolutely! What struck me was the close competition in the finals. Both the U-17 and U-19 singles finals pitted Niting against his fellow Longding player, Pangdun Pansa. This highlights the depth of talent coming from the Longding district. Do you see this rivalry pushing both players to even greater heights?
Sandeep: Definately! Kind competition within a district can be incredibly beneficial for young athletes. It pushes them to train harder, improve their game, and strive for excellence.I wouldn’t be surprised to see both Niting and Pansa representing the state at national and even international levels in the future.

The doubles categories witnessed some thrilling encounters as well.In the boys’ U-17 doubles, Chipe Riram and Marmin Uli emerged victorious, while Niting and Pansa took the U-19 doubles title. What are your observations about the importance of doubles play in developing well-rounded badminton players?
Sandeep: Doubles play is an integral part of badminton development. It teaches teamwork, communication, tactical awareness, and court positioning – crucial skills for any aspiring professional.
