Slovácko Undergoes Roster shakeup: Departures and New Targets
Slovácko is experiencing a period of significant change as several players depart the club, while coach Smetana sets his sights on new reinforcements.
The club has confirmed the departure of Azevedo,while midfielder Součka has returned to Sparta Prague. Notably, veteran Petržela, a potential record holder for most league appearances, is no longer in Slovácko’s plans. This news comes amidst reports that the club is actively pursuing players from Baník Ostrava and Slovakia.
Coach Smetana has expressed his desire to bring in players who are fully committed and eager to contribute. He cited the disappointing performance of Cicilia as an example, stating that the team needs individuals who are driven to succeed, not simply “surviving.”
Meanwhile, Slovácko’s captain has returned to training, and Kohút is also participating in sessions. Though, the future of the team’s stopper remains uncertain.
The club’s sporting director, Šumulikoski, revealed that while they are keen to accommodate Petržel, an agreement has not yet been reached. He also indicated that the team is actively exploring options to strengthen the squad.

Tomáš: well, those are some big shoes to fill, no doubt about it. Azevedo brought pace and creativity on the wing, Součka was a reliable presence in the midfield, and petržela, well, his experience and leadership are irreplaceable.It’s a big challenge for the coaching staff to find suitable replacements.
Moderator: Coach Smetana has been vocal about his desire for a new breed of player – committed and driven. He even cited Cicilia’s performance as an example of what he doesn’t want to see. Do you agree with Smetana’s approach,and do you think this emphasis on attitude will contribute to a stronger team spirit?
Tomáš: I understand Smetana’s frustration. Complacency can creep into any team, and it sounds like he wants to build a squad with a real hunger to succeed. But it’s a delicate balancing act. You need talent, yes, but you also need players who gel well together and buy into the coach’s philosophy.
Moderator: Speaking of philosophies, Slovácko are reportedly targeting players from baník Ostrava and Slovakia. Do you see any potential gems out there who could revitalize the team?
Tomáš: Baník Ostrava has a good academy system, so there’s definitely talent to be found there. And Slovakia has produced some exciting young players in recent years. It’ll be engaging to see who Slovácko manages to bring in and how they adapt to a new habitat and league.
Moderator: The future of the captain and Kohút remains uncertain,adding another layer of intrigue. How important is it for Slovácko to retain their leadership and experience through this transition?
Tomáš: Extremely important. Losing both the captain and Kohút woudl be a huge blow, especially given the departures already announced. They provide stability and guidance, both on and off the pitch.
moderator: Absolutely. And Tomáš,what’s your prediction for Slovácko this season? Can they weather this storm and emerge even stronger?
Tomáš: It’s going to be a tough season,no question about it. There will be growing pains as the new players settle in and the team gels. But if smetana can recruit wisely and instill his vision in the squad, I believe Slovácko can surprise a few people.
