A New Era Dawns: Bap Highlights Strong Start for Filipe Luís and josé Boto
The Flamengo squad kicked off their second day of pre-season training on Thursday (09) at the Ninho do Urubu training Center. Despite the early stage, club president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, expressed his satisfaction with the burgeoning partnership between head coach Filipe Luís and technical director José Boto.
Bap emphasized the positive synergy between the duo, stating that their collaboration is “intense” and characterized by “total alignment.” This harmony stems from extensive discussions that predate Bap’s election in December 2024, with the implementation of their shared vision now underway.
“We’ve been putting into practice everything we discussed over the past 90, 120 days. Everything is going very well, and we are very confident,” Bap affirmed.
Boto’s arrival in Brazil in late December coincided with Filipe Luís’s return to the club on Wednesday (08). Notably, the pair had already met in Europe to strategize for the upcoming season. This meeting reportedly left a strong impression on Boto, solidifying his belief in Filipe Luís’s leadership.
A Fresh Start for Flamengo
Bap, who assumed his role in January, has wasted no time in making his mark on the club. Prior to attending the FERJ-organized event launching the Campeonato Carioca, he spearheaded significant restructuring across various departments within Flamengo.
Carioca Campaign Begins
While Filipe Luís will be leading the main squad in the United States, Flamengo’s reserve team will take the field for the Carioca championship opener on Sunday (12) against Boavista. The match will be held in Aracaju, Sergipe, and will be broadcast live on Coluna do Fla’s YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, the main squad, led by Filipe Luís, will depart for the United States in the early hours of January 10th. Ther, they will face São Paulo on January 19th.The team’s first Carioca match is scheduled for January 26th against Volta Redonda, with the venue yet to be determined.
This early stage of the season promises to be a crucial period for Flamengo as they embark on a new chapter under Bap’s leadership and the guidance of their new coaching duo.
A New Era at Flamengo: Hope or Hype? An Exclusive Interview with Former Flamengo Captain,Júnior
Flamengo fans, are you excited about the new era at the club? A fresh start under president Bap,a new coaching duo in Filipe Luís and José Boto, and a pre-season filled with positive buzz - it’s all enough to get even the most cynical supporter optimistic. but is this genuine optimism or simply pre-season hype? To get some insight, we sat down with former Flamengo captain and club legend, Júnior.
Moderator: Júnior, welcome! You’ve seen it all at Flamengo, from glorious victories to challenging times. How does this current moment compare?
Júnior: It’s certainly intriguing, that’s for sure. Bap has come in with a clear vision and seems persistent to shake things up, which is what Flamengo needs.Filipe Luís is a club legend, passionate and learned about the game. And Boto, though relatively unkown, has a good reputation and a strong track record. There’s definitely potential here.
Moderator: Bap emphasizes the strong synergy between Filipe Luís and Boto. What do you make of this partnership?
Júnior: It’s crucial. A head coach and technical director need to be on the same wavelength, especially at a club with Flamengo’s ambition. The fact they’ve been discussing their vision for months is encouraging. it shows a level of preparation and commitment that’s been lacking in recent times.
Moderator: Some fans are concerned about Filipe Luís’s lack of managerial experience. How do you view his appointment?
Júnior: It’s a risk, no doubt. But Filipe Luís is a leader, both on and off the field. He understands the club’s DNA, its fans, its expectations. He might lack experience in the dugout, but he has the intelligence and determination to learn quickly. Having Boto as a seasoned mentor will be invaluable.
Moderator: Bap has wasted no time making changes, including restructuring various departments. Is this a necessary step?
Júnior: Absolutely.
Flamengo needs to be run like a modern, professional club. Streamlining operations, improving communication, and strengthening internal structures are all crucial for long-term success.
It’s not just about what happens on the pitch; the entire club needs to be firing on all cylinders.
moderator: The Carioca campaign kicks off soon, with the reserve team playing first. What are your expectations for the main squad’s performance in the US friendlies and the subsequent Carioca matches?
Júnior: This pre-season is all about laying a foundation. It’s about implementing a new tactical system, building team cohesion, and integrating new signings.
results in the US friendlies are less vital than the progress made on the training pitch. The Carioca will be a tougher test, but it’s an prospect for Filipe Luís and the team to start building momentum.
Moderator: Júnior, what message would you give to Flamengo fans as we enter this new chapter?
Júnior: Be patient, be supportive, and be loud! This is a fresh start for Flamengo, a chance to rebuild and reclaim our place at the top. Let’s believe in the new team, back them fully, and together, we can achieve great things.
