Discover the World of Judo at Mazerolles Judo Soubestre
Established in May 2023, Mazerolles Judo Soubestre (MJS) is the judo branch of the Mazerolles culture loisirs (MCL) association, proudly affiliated with the France Judo federation. Under the guidance of passionate volunteer instructors Alexandre Sénéchal and Florence Cazabieille, who holds a DEJEPS (state diploma in youth, popular education and sport) specializing in judo and jujitsu, MJS offers a welcoming environment for judo enthusiasts of all ages.
Nurturing Young Champions
Currently boasting 24 members aged 5 to 13,MJS offers a unique “judo awakening” program designed for youngsters aged 5 and up. This program introduces children to the fundamentals of judo through engaging games, fostering the development of essential motor skills, balance, and coordination. as thay progress, they are gradually introduced to opposition games, laying the foundation for more advanced techniques.
With a vision to expand its membership, MJS aims to create age and skill-level specific classes, ensuring personalized attention and optimal learning for each participant. All training sessions take place at the mazerolles dojo, providing a dedicated space for practice and growth.
Open Doors and Open Minds
Florence Cazabieille goes the extra mile by offering convenient pick-up services from local schools and leisure centers on Wednesdays, making it easier for children to participate.
MJS welcomes newcomers of all ages to experience the transformative power of judo through trial sessions available throughout the year.
Beyond its physical benefits,judo instills a strong moral code based on eight core values,shaping character and promoting personal growth. This martial art enhances psychomotor development, spatial awareness, and muscular strength, flexibility, and endurance.
Competition and camaraderie
During the first quarter of the 2024-2025 season, the club’s mini-chicks, chicks, and benjamins categories participated in several competitions, including the Sauvagnon interclub tournament in Pau and the Mini Tigres and Petits Tigres in Anglet. two of the youngest members even took on the challenge of the departmental circuit, which comprises four tournaments. The third tournament is scheduled for January 19th in Jurançon.
