You mentioned in your blog post that your search for a new club was quite a journey, with Lokeren-Temse initially showing interest before ultimately choosing Prychynenko. Was that a disappointing setback?
Laurens: You know,it was initially. I was really excited about the prospect of playing for Lokeren-Temse. Their move for Prychynenko, while understandable given DeinzeS situation, did leave me considering my options.
Moderator: It’s clear you have a strong connection to Kalken. You spent time in their youth program, even had a dribbling tournament named after you! How did that history factor into your decision to sign with them now?
Laurens: It played a huge role. It always felt like home here. The familiar faces, the atmosphere, even being able to maintain my fitness during my time away by training with the club – it was a natural fit for this stage of my career.
Moderator: It’s extraordinary that you remained connected to the sport even while focusing on entrepreneurial endeavors. Many players struggle to transition away from professional football.
Laurens: It wasn’t always easy. Business took up a lot of my time and energy. Football, though, is in my blood. It’s a passion that never truly fades. I’m excited to be back, to contribute to a club that means so much to me, and to see what we can achieve together.
