Troy: Always a pleasure,[Your name].
You played your entire career with the Dallas Cowboys, so you’re certainly no stranger to dedicated fanbases. The NFL’s pushing hard into international territories. What are your thoughts on the league scheduling three regular-season games in London for 2025?
Troy: I think it’s fantastic. The NFL has been smart to cultivate these international markets for a while now. london, in particular, has shown real passion for the sport. And letS not forget the Jaguars.
They’ve practically made London a second home. Fourteen games! That shows commitment.
Absolutely. The jaguars even have that multi-year partnership with Wembley, which obviously helps. But you look at a team like the Jets – thier fourth London appearance – and it seems like these franchisesti realize the value of expanding their brand globally. What do you think drives that strategic move?
Troy: It’s a blend of factors. It’s smart business. These international games tap into new revenue streams, increase global brand recognition, and,of course, expose American Football to millions of potential fans around the world. Plus, let’s be real, for a player, it’s a cool experience. Traveling abroad, playing in front of new crowds – it adds a unique dimension to the game.
I can imagine. [Grabs Notes] Speaking of new crowds, we see Spain and Germany also getting into the mix – Madrid and Berlin hosting games. What’s your take on the NFL going into these new territories?
Troy: It’s exciting! the NFL is smart to be proactive. They’re essentially planting seeds for future growth. We saw how triumphant the NFL has been with American football in Mexico City, and there’s no reason why the same can’t happen in Spain and Germany, countries with rich sporting cultures. Imagine the energy in the Bernabéu!
It would be electric! That was a terrific point, Troy. Let’s open this up to our listeners – what are your thoughts on the NFL’s international expansion? Do you think this is a good move,or are there potential downsides? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
Troy, you know better than most how impactful marketing can be for a team’s success. Is there indeed a marketing advantage for teams like the jets who are locking down exclusive rights in foreign markets?
Troy: Certainly. Imagine, you’re living in London. You casually hear on the radio about this team called the Jets. They’re coming to town, and they’ve got this exclusive deal, these special marketing rights. Suddenly, they’ve captured your attention. Their logo’s everywhere, they’ve got events going on, merchandise available … before you know it, you’re invested. It’s an excellent way to build a connection with fans who might be unfamiliar with the teams and the sport itself.
Absolutely, Troy. It all comes back to building that base.
One last question for you, Troy. Looking ahead, what team do you see having the most success in capturing the hearts and minds of those international fans?
Troy: That’s a tough one. Lots of potential contenders. But personally, I’ve got my eye on the Jacksonville Jaguars. They’ve put in the work, they’ve earned that London fanbase, and their commitment to building that international presence is clear. I think they’re really poised to become a global brand.
