Florence’s vibrant cultural scene is about to be enriched by the International Lyceum Club’s captivating 2025 program. This esteemed institution, established in 1908, continues to thrive thanks to the unwavering support of the CR Firenze Foundation and the patronage of the Municipality of Florence, the Metropolitan City, and the Tuscany Region.
This year, the Lyceum Club embraces the concept of the “circle” as its central theme, reflecting both its historical identity as a “cultural circle” and its commitment to inclusivity and shared experiences.As Donatella Lippi, the club’s president, explains, the circle symbolizes a space for generating ideas, emotions, and connections.
“The Lyceum 2025 program reaffirms the club’s vital role within Florence’s cultural landscape,” states Giovanni Bettarini, the Municipality’s Councilor for Culture.
Maria Oliva Scaramuzzi, vice-president of the CR Florence Foundation, highlights the reasons behind their longstanding support of the Lyceum: “we are drawn to the program’s multidisciplinary approach, its party of women’s contributions to society, and its focus on crucial issues like fragility, disability, and inclusion.”
The program kicks off on Monday,January 13th,at 6 pm with a screening of “Campo Libero,” a poignant short film by Cristina Principe. This moving documentary delves into the lives, aspirations, and resilience of visually impaired athletes who play baseball for Fiorentina. It also exposed me to athletes from diverse backgrounds and abilities.Seeing young girls with disabilities participate in softball clinics and camps, experiencing the joy of the game firsthand, truly warmed my heart.
