Barranquilla’s Mayor Reacts to James Rodríguez’s Rejection
Barranquilla’s mayor, Alex Char, addressed the recent news of James Rodríguez declining Junior’s offer to join the team this season. char’s comments came during the city’s Carnival presentation, a day after negotiations wiht the Colombian National Team captain fell through.
In a passionate statement, Char emphasized the meaning of Junior within the city, declaring, “Never forget, no one and nothing surpasses Junior of Barranquilla. Junior, yoru father!”
The mayor’s father, Fuad Char, had traveled to Medellín the previous Friday to discuss a potential transfer with Rodríguez. However, a significantly more lucrative offer from an international club ultimately derailed the negotiations.
Fuad Char revealed, “We carefully analyzed several aspects of James Rodríguez’s contracts.While returning home,I received confirmation that they had received a proposal almost double our offer. This operation, unfortunately, has failed.”

faustino Asprilla: Money plays a big role, no doubt. Football is a business, after all. But I believe James also wants to be competitive,to challenge himself. León competing in the Club World Cup is a great platform for him.
