MB2ALL Dominates Madagascar Badminton Championships 2024
Teh MB2ALL club emerged victorious at the 2024 Madagascar Badminton Championships, securing titles in both the prestigious men’s and women’s Series A categories. the event,held at the ANS gymnasium in Ampefiloha over the weekend,witnessed thrilling matches and notable performances.
Tokinirina Joy Razafimandimby of MB2ALL finally claimed his first national Series A title after three consecutive near misses in previous championships. He overcame Evenon alfasiel of DDBC in a hard-fought final, winning 2 sets to 1 (21/12, 9/21, 21/18). This victory adds to Razafimandimby’s already accomplished 2024 season, which has seen him triumph in two major tournaments. notably, reigning champion Thierry Razafimahatratra, who held the title in both 2022 and 2023, was unexpectedly eliminated by Alfa in the round of 16.
The women’s Series A final was an all-MB2ALL affair, pitting Stéphania Razafimamonjiarison against Soaniaina Razanamaly. Razafimamonjiarison secured her second national title, her first since 2012, defeating the eleven-time national champion Razanamaly with a decisive 2-0 victory (21/16, 21/11).
In the Series B competition, Mahery Andrianarison of VVTK Ivato triumphed over Mandamahefa Razakasoavina of MB2ALL (2-0) in the men’s category. Meanwhile, Mandrindra rakoto of Saint Joseph emerged victorious in the women’s category, defeating her teammate Vahy Andrilala (2-0).
Sandratra Andrianirina of Saint Jo and Batsoa Ratovo of VTTK Ivato claimed the Series C titles, while Tahiry Rakotovao from Antsirabe and Voahangy Andriambololona of DDBC were crowned champions in the veterans’ category for men and women, respectively.
Looking ahead, Marc Aina Vonjinirina, the national technical director, announced plans to establish a top 16 ranking system based on the results of this national championship. This initiative aims to provide a clearer picture of the competitive landscape in both Series A and B.
