A strong contingent of young judokas from Ibiza recently traveled to Tortosa to compete in the prestigious Spanish cup. Representing three prominent clubs – Ibiza Dojo, Samyd, and Gokyo Ryu – the ten athletes, accompanied by their dedicated coaches, showcased their skills and determination on the national stage.
The elite category, which served as a qualifier for the Spanish championship, saw impressive performances from Ibiza’s rising stars. Ana Ramón (-44kg) of Samyd Club secured a victory before bowing out in the quarterfinals. Similarly, Eva Tur (-48kg), also from Samyd, displayed her prowess by winning a match before facing defeat in the quarterfinals. In the -50kg category, another Samyd judoka fought valiantly, clinching two victories before falling in the round of 16.
the promotion category, designed to provide valuable experience in a high-pressure surroundings, witnessed remarkable success for the Ibizan athletes. José Ribas (+66kg) and his teammate (-60kg),both representing Dojo Ibiza,dominated their respective divisions,securing gold medals with flawless two-fight winning streaks. Carla Sarvisé (-57kg),also from Dojo Ibiza,joined the gold medalists,demonstrating remarkable skill and technique. Gokyo Ryu’s representative in the -66kg category mirrored this success, claiming gold after two decisive victories.Silver medals were awarded to Carla Cardona (-63kg), Emma Lillo (+63kg), and Leonora huamán (-57kg), all representing Dojo Ibiza. Airam Nevado (-52kg) from Samyd Club also secured a commendable second-place finish. Dojo Ibiza’s Diego Martinez (-46kg) and Mohamed Ali (-55kg) rounded out the podium with bronze medals in their respective weight classes.
