## TSV Barsinghausen Judoka Excel in German Sports Badge Challenge
The TSV Barsinghausen Judo & Aikido division recently celebrated the success of several of its adult judoka who achieved the prestigious German Sports Badge. This annual challenge, organized by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), recognizes athletic excellence in popular sports, with over half a million athletes earning the badge each year. www.ju-ju-ba.de.
The German Judo Association (DJB) has tailored the sports badge specifically for judo, encompassing four demanding areas. Participants must first demonstrate their judo fitness through timed falling techniques and throws, aiming for a heart rate of 130 to 150 beats per minute. This is followed by short sparring sessions known as “Randori,” testing their practical skills.
The second area focuses on strength endurance, requiring judoka to complete a dynamic obstacle course within three minutes, showcasing their agility and stamina. the judoka must display their creativity and technical prowess by performing at least six techniques in a precise sequence known as “Kata.”
This year, Thomas Barnert, Norman kreutzkamp, Waldemar Mond, Jörn Onken, and Detlef Rennemann successfully navigated these challenges, proving their dedication and skill.
The Judo & Aikido division welcomes individuals of all experience levels, offering training sessions every Monday at 7 p.m. in the KGS Goetheschule’s small gymnasium. Norman kreutzkamp leads the training, with guest trainer Udo Möbus providing additional support monthly.
Putting Their Skills to the Test: A conversation with Judo Champion, Udo Möbus
The recent success of TSV Barsinghausen Judoka in earning the prestigious German Sports Badge is inspiring, showcasing dedication and skill. To delve deeper into the world of Judo and the importance of this achievement, I had the pleasure of speaking with accomplished Judo champion, Udo Möbus, who also generously offers his expertise as a guest trainer for the TSV Barsinghausen Judo & Aikido division.
Moderator: Udo, congratulations to the TSV Barsinghausen Judoka on their success. the German sports Badge in judo is no mean feat. Can you shed some light on what makes this achievement so significant?
Udo Möbus: Absolutely. This badge is a testament to a judoka’s well-rounded abilities. It goes beyond just technical prowess on the mat. it demands physical fitness, endurance, and mental fortitude. It’s a true measure of a complete athlete.
Moderator: The article highlights four key areas the badge evaluates: judo fitness, randori, strength endurance, and Kata. Could you elaborate on what each of these components entails and why they’re important?
udo Möbus: Sure. Think of it as a comprehensive assessment of a judoka’s skillset. Judo fitness tests your ability to perform techniques at a high intensity while maintaining control. Randori, the sparring sessions, assess your practical request of technique, your timing, and your ability to execute under pressure.
Strength endurance,as the name suggests,is about your capacity to sustain physical exertion. In Judo, you need explosive power, but also the stamina to keep going. And Kata showcases your precision, your understanding of Judo principles, and your ability to perform techniques with grace and accuracy.
Moderator: That’s interesting. It truly seems like more than just a physical challenge. There’s a strong mental aspect to it as well.
Udo Möbus: Exactly! Judo is as much a mental discipline as it is indeed a physical one. The challenges required for the German Sports Badge test not only your physical limits but also your mental focus and determination.
