Fulda Judo Club Shines at International Sparkasse Cup
The 1st Fulda Judo Club kicked off the new year wiht a triumphant performance at the 28th International Sparkasse Cup in Jena.The prestigious tournament, attracting 814 athletes from 75 clubs across Germany and neighboring countries, showcased exceptional talent in the U13, U15, and U18 age groups.
Nine young judokas from Fulda stepped onto the mat, eager to prove their mettle after the holiday break. The competition was fierce, with athletes displaying extraordinary skill and determination.
Bronze Medal Triumphs
Jan Hartmann, competing in the U13 division, secured a bronze medal after a strong showing in the consolation round. He overcame Valentin Kraft (Jahn Nürnberg) and Jeremiah Ziermann (JC Jena) to claim his podium finish.
In the U18 category, Michelle Müller and franziska Lomb both earned bronze medals. Müller, after swift victories against Emilia Klein (PSV batzen) and Anna Maria Hofmeister (JSC Stotternheim), fell to eventual champion Anna Reitmann (Leipziger Sportlöwen). She rebounded in the small final, defeating Jamila Jensen from Kim Chi Wiesbaden.Lomb, competing in the -57 kg weight class, avenged a previous loss to Sina Bauer (SV Halle) and secured her bronze medal after a defeat to Lindsay Koar (PSV Frankfurt/Oder) in the semifinals.
Other Notable Performances
Lea Rudolphi (-57 kg) made a strong debut in her new weight class, finishing in fifth place in the U15 division. Ivan Fedorenko (-55 kg) also competed in the U15 category, ultimately placing seventh. Michael Szymanski, competing in the U18 -81 kg weight class, demonstrated resilience by securing a fifth-place finish despite facing significantly heavier opponents.

Klaus: The atmosphere was electric! You could feel the energy from all the athletes, coaches, and spectators.It’s always intense at the Sparkasse Cup, but our team was well-prepared.
They kept their focus, stayed positive, and really embraced the challenge. Witnessing their determination was inspiring.
