Badminton Enthusiasts Gather for Kind Competition in Guébriand
The Hermine du Guébriand badminton club, led by Myriam Cabaret, hosted a lively interclub tournament on Sunday. The event,which drew 24 players from neighboring towns like Dinan and Pleslin-Trigavou,provided a welcome chance for both junior and adult players to shake off the rust before the second half of the season.
The morning session saw young athletes from various clubs facing off against each other.in the afternoon, the focus shifted to adult players, who engaged in doubles matches, both men’s and mixed, across 24 pairs. Representing the local club were players from Pleugueneuc, Pleslin-Trigavou, Dinan, Saint-Samson, and Saint-Malo.
Lucien Kermeur, the club’s secretary, highlighted the Hermine du Guébriand’s commitment to fostering a love for badminton within the community. With a robust membership of 80 individuals, the club operates in a recreational capacity, guided by the expertise of coach Étienne duhamel.
Looking ahead, the second half of the season promises a blend of friendly matches, a special family-oriented event, and a unique “mentorship” tournament. This latter initiative allows experienced adult players to share their knowledge and passion with aspiring young athletes as young as six years old.
