While water scarcity remains a pressing issue, the water that does exist is wreaking havoc across Macerata.Recent reports highlight a surge in water infiltration and humidity affecting construction sites and public structures throughout the city. The affected locations are numerous, ranging from the underpasses on Via Roma and near the convitto to the Terrazza dei Popoli and the Mubi building adjacent to Giardini Diaz. Additionally,Palazzo Buonaccorsi and municipal offices on viale Trento and Piazza della Libertà are facing similar challenges.
In the case of the Convitto underpass, the problem was discovered during the construction phase: the water infiltration was so significant that it forced the suspension of the works and the revision of the project. The solution adopted was to increase the slope of the underpass to avoid the accumulation of water and to eliminate the hydraulic works initially planned.
The situation is different for the Galleria delle Fonti: the problem of water infiltration has been known for years and has never been resolved. The walls of the tunnel are natural dispensers of water resources and attempts to resolve the inconvenience have proved useless. The collapse of part of the baseball field in via Cioci, which occurred some time ago, highlighted the problem and since then there has never been a shortage of water inside the tunnel.
In the case of the Via roma underpass, the problem was discovered during the construction phase: a persistent rain flooded the construction site and highlighted the elements of risk that would have been created by continuing with the original project which envisaged the construction of the basin infrastructure. Action is being taken by increasing the slope and avoiding the hydraulic works initially planned.

Water Infiltration Challenges in Urban Infrastructure Projectsnn

water infiltration issues in urban infrastructure projects have been a persistent challenge, particularly in areas with high groundwater levels. One notable example is the Galleria delle Fonti, a tunnel that has faced chronic water seepage for years. The problem became widely recognized after a section of the nearby baseball field on Via Cioci collapsed, drawing public attention to the issue. Despite numerous attempts to address the problem, the tunnel walls continue to act as natural water sources, making effective solutions elusive.

In contrast, the Via roma underpass project encountered water-related issues during its construction phase. Heavy rainfall flooded the site, exposing potential risks associated with the original design, which included a basin infrastructure. To mitigate these risks, engineers revised the plan by increasing the slope of the underpass and eliminating the need for hydraulic works, ensuring better water drainage and reducing future complications.

Similarly, the Convitto underpass project faced significant water infiltration during construction, leading to a temporary halt in work. The extent of the water seepage necessitated a redesign of the project. Engineers opted to increase the slope of the underpass, which helped prevent water accumulation and eliminated the need for additional hydraulic
Con the Convitto underpass we move on to a work that did not cost bundles of millions but problems related to infiltration still arose. A leak from a pipe had been identified, work was carried out only to discover that that structure had more than one problem and work also followed to repair the adjacent driveways.
From Convitto to diaz Gardens there is little road, but the water is always a nightmare, the pace is short, it can be done on foot without the aid of amphibious vehicles.
We start with the Terrazza dei Popoliwhich is also the roof of the historic center car park: renovation works were carried out but the leaks remained in the premises used by Apm employees. Also in the Diaz Gardens area is the former caretaker’s house, now home to the Bad after a pharaonic restoration project. Once the work was completed, as planned, it was seen that there were significant humidity problems in the basement, to overcome which it was decided to proceed with other interventions costing one hundred thousand euros. The humidity persists and is also noticeable on the external walls of the building, on the via Cadorna side. The emergency also affects large public containers.
At Palazzo Buonaccorsi there is damage to the wooden floor of the carriage museum. Then again the roofs of the buildings that house the municipal offices in Viale Trieste and in Piazza della Libertà, in this last case the top floor also houses the archive and was unusable due to the earthquake.

It seems like the text is discussing various construction and renovation projects in a specific area, highlighting issues related to water infiltration, humidity, and structural damage. Here’s a summary of the key points:
- Convitto Underpass:
– The project faced meaningful water infiltration during construction, leading to a temporary halt in work.
– Engineers redesigned the project by increasing the slope of the underpass to prevent water accumulation.
– Additional problems were discovered, including leaks from pipes and issues with adjacent driveways.
- Diaz Gardens:
– The area is prone to water-related issues, making movement difficult without “amphibious vehicles.”
- Terrazza dei Popoli:
– This area serves as the roof of the historic center car park.
– Renovation works were carried out, but leaks persisted in the premises used by Apm employees.
- Former Caretaker’s House (now Bad):
– A significant restoration project was completed, but humidity issues in the basement required additional interventions costing €100,000.
– Humidity persists and is visible on the external walls of the building, particularly on the Via Cadorna side.
- palazzo Buonaccorsi:
– Damage was reported to the wooden floor of the carriage museum.
– Roofs of buildings housing municipal offices in Viale Trieste and Piazza della Libertà also have issues.
– In Piazza della Libertà, the top floor (which houses the archive) was unusable due to earthquake damage.
- Public Containers:
– Large public structures are also affected by these water-related emergencies.
