Galatasaray’s Pursuit of Eren Elmalı Falls Through Over Payment Dispute
Galatasaray had set its sights on securing the services of Eren Elmalı, the talented national left-back currently playing for Trabzonspor. The yellow-reds were reportedly in advanced talks during the mid-season transfer window, with initial reports suggesting that both clubs had reached a mutual understanding on moast terms.
Galatasaray’s Installment Proposal
In their bid to acquire the 24-year-old defender, Galatasaray offered a transfer fee of approximately €3.5 million. However, the Istanbul-based club proposed to pay this amount in three separate installments, a move aimed at easing their financial burden.
Trabzonspor’s Counteroffer and Stalemate
Trabzonspor, conversely, insisted on receiving half of the fee upfront, with the remaining balance to be paid in full within a year.According to TRT Spor, the two clubs failed to bridge the gap in their payment terms, leading to the collapse of the deal. As a result, Eren Elmalı will remain with the claret-blue team for the foreseeable future.
Eren Elmalı’s Current Season Stats
This season,Eren Elmalı has been a consistent presence for Trabzonspor,featuring in 21 matches across all competitions. While he has yet to find the back of the net, the left-back has contributed with one assist. With a market value estimated at €4 million, Elmalı’s contract with Trabzonspor runs until 2027. The defender joined the Black Sea club in the summer of 2022 from Kasımpaşa for a fee of €3.6 million, and his performances have since solidified his reputation as a reliable player in the Turkish Süper Lig.
