Tom Brady and Antonio Brown played a game together as teammates for the Patriots last season, and it doesn’t look like they’ll meet in Tampa Bay.
After rumors surfaced on Tuesday that the Buccaneers might be interested in Brown, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that the team was not looking at the wide free agent receiver.
The news is not a shock after Bucs coach Bruce Arians said in 2019 that he was not a fan of the changes he had seen at Brown over the years. During Arians ‘tenure as the Steelers’ offensive coordinator, the team selected Brown in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
“There are too many communication problems,” said Arians. “Too many diva. I’ve heard so many stories. I love Antonio. He plays as hard as anyone on Sunday and he trains hard. He just needs to make better decisions off the field, be there ‘time, do some of these little things.’
Brown missed most of the 2019 season after the Patriots released him in September, and has repeatedly declared his desire to return to the NFL.
Several free agents remain on the market, and with Cam Newton heading to New England, who will be the next player to land in a new team?
