Richmond’s Bachar Houli leaves the AFL center of Tigers’ Queensland for family reasons

Bachar Houli will miss Richmond’s road trip to Queensland and the club’s next five AFL games after his wife gave birth to their third child last week.

The Tigers went north today to play Sydney at Gabba in Brisbane and North Melbourne on the Gold Coast.

They will be away for at least five weeks and AFL will still have to announce the schedule after round seven, but Houli will stay in Melbourne to support his wife Rouba.

“”[The hub] will be great for connecting the football club, but unfortunately I will stay at home, “said Houli.

“For those who don’t know … my wife had a little boy named Mohamed.

“It is a very important moment for our family and hopefully everyone understands that I will not travel with the team because I have to be there to support my wife and my dear children and to show them love.

“But hopefully we’ll be bigger and stronger in four or five weeks, the boys can score a few wins and [I can] Take part. “

Shane Edwards is also likely to miss Richmond for family reasons, and key defender David Astbury is already out due to a knee injury.

Dion Prestia and Toby Nankervis both suffered syndesmosis injuries in Sunday’s 27-point win against Melbourne at MCG.

Tiger captain Trent Cotchin (thigh) was excluded from the swans’ collision, and Tom Lynch has a broken finger.

The exodus of AFL clubs from Victoria began on Sunday when Collingwood and Hawthorn shared a flight to Sydney.

The league confirmed on Friday that all 10 Victorian clubs must leave the state hit by a COVID 19 outbreak.

Carlton, Geelong, Hawthorn, North Melbourne, and St. Kilda have all confirmed that their entire game lists travel north to the hubs.
